Colombo’s ever-changing skyline continues to evolve. The newly opened Orion City Tower development is the latest addition to the plethora of forms. Balmond Studio delivered the interior design – another stage in our new interior narrative.
The mixed-use development includes a hotel, retail space, food court and restaurant. Orion is a pioneer and innovator in the regional tech-industry, the interior design had these values within its very DNA. Highlights include the city’s largest back-lit wall installation and a reflective column-reception desk hybrid form. Many design elements were derived from generative pattern grids using the Orion constellation as an organizational starting point – another first in the industry.
Orion City Tower officially opened on 17th July 2019 in a refined ceremony that involved several dignitaries and the who’s who of the tech-industry. The tower will host the likes of IFS, Virtusa, CAMSO, Synopsys, etc. and is an integral part of the greater Orion City IT Park project.
